Re: BigWheelTex does 180 miles in 2 days

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Scott, I could've slept in today but
I didn't really feel that bad. Legs are a little tight but that's really
about it. I will definately be up for riding to work tomorrow night.
After this weekend, eleven and a half miles to work doesn't seem all
that bad. Later, guys.

Aj

I'm certainly impressed. I have a goal to ride in a 100 mile 2 day ride in
southern Indiana which is very hilly. The ride is in October, so I have some
time to get in shape. I haven't gone farther than 6 miles yet.

I ride on country roads, and the spring wind makes it hard for me,
expecially a cross wind, but a head wind going up hill is also challenging.

How do the bicyclists respond to a uni?
How long did the ride take?
Do you have any advice for me?

Thanks!

A: They love it...they are already there pushing themselves hard...and
are amazed that you are there

B: Prepare to exchange 'you should be in the circus' with 'can you put
clipless pedals on that thing?'

(clipless pedals are the pedals that bikers click their feet into)

U-Turn, I'm impressed you caught that from the video.

I saw him do the last couple of blocks "live", and it stuck me how good
he looked; he looked like he could've kept on going indefinetly.

Like Sofa said, the bikes absolutely love it. Many of them get a little
frustrated when I passed them on the uphills, which was by far my
favorite part of doing these rides. My advice to you is ride as much as
you can from now until the ride in October. I did one 54 mile ride a
couple of months ago and beside that I just commuted to work everynight
which was a 24 or 25 mile round trip. The only thing I would suggest is
seek out as many hills as you can and attack them like there's no
tomorrow. That's just me though, I freakin' love hills. Good luck and
make 'em die in the hills. Later.

p.s. I only had three upd's on the first day and none on the second day.

The 180 miles is already impressive.
The two days is already incredible.
The 11.25 mph average riding speed is unbelievable.

Congratulations on a fantastic accomplishment. Austin is hilly, Houston
is not. About where does it become hilly in between?

I think we need a snappy comeback to that one. Here's some starter
ones:

- Yes, if I like examining the pavement from point-blank range.
- Yes, if I like the taste of pavement.
- Yes, if I want a broken nose.

Congrats on the big ride! It sounds like you were in really good shape
for it. Now my 8.1 mile ride to work (which I don't do enough) doesn't
sound so Far!
