I have a nice road bike (653 and a mixture of ultegra/sante/TA and RSX)
that is fast and fun. But most of my miles are done on my ageing MTB.
Slick tyres (Nokian AWS at 1.3"😉 which give excellent road performance
but have enough give for off road stuff, bar bag, full mudguards, child
seat, rack, kick stand and so on. I go up hills much faster on the road
bike but do most of my winter training on the MTB.
Both are fitted with Brooks B17 saddles.
