Yeah, he thought I'd stop, I thought he'd give way. Neither happened.

Thankfully, in 28 years of driving, I've never been in a similar
situation in the car.

I have. I was about 6 at the time. Mum driving, Dad dozing. We crest the
hill to be faced by 3 coaches abreast 'racing' each other a couple of car
lengths away. (A bit like a sumo 100 m !!) It was the days of suicide
lanes.

I can remember being thrown around the back seat as the car fish tailed half
on the road, half on the verge (I was six in 1958 so seat belts & child
seats hadn't been invented).

It still gives me occasional nightmares.

Parents stopped at the next pub for a stiff drink!!
