You don't need to. Tubes will go for years and years. I've retired tubes with well over a dozen patches, accumulated over several years. I usually only toss a tube when the valve fails. Carry a spare tube (at least 1) though so you can patch at home.

I ran 32mm 'Cross tires with 19-25mm tubes, no problems. Didn't have the right tubes handy, then got lazy and went months like that.

My experience, they'll outlast the tires my a long, long ways.
