Not if you can only spare an hour to ride. Besides, he didn't seem to be asking for training tips but just giving himself some harmless (and deserved) pats on the back. If I raised my average speed some 15% I think I'd be tempted to be somewhat self-congratulatory as well.

That would be a well deserved pat on the back. Before work and the morning shower/shave is a good time to get in the ride and get awake without coffee. Lunch is good if you have a shower at work and a change of clothes. After work is good if you have light and space. Commuting to and from gives you a big benefit in car savings and workout. It's all a personal thing, but it can only gain you some fitness and fun. Bill Baka
