Chris M said:On a Campag drivetrain, are there any aluminum compact cranks that will
not require a new bottom bracket? I have no problem with CF but I want
to keep it < $200 USD. I saw the Bontrager compact with BB for $200 and
a Ritchey for $149 that would require a new BB.
Since a new bottom bracket for these cranks is probably $20-$40, you can
get the Bontrager and a bottom bracket and still be under your limit.

can't chase down a Campag model. Are they worth the $$?
IMNSHO it's not needed. I have an (older) Campy front shifter that works
fine with my "subcompact" cranks (they are compact mountain bike cranks
with 46/30 rings, leaving granny home except for loaded touring). Just
slide the derailleur down far enough to be just above the big ring, and it
should be fine.
