On Today's business news at 7:30 this morning there was an article about Gerald Ratner being interested in some take-over or other. The business reporter said that they tried to call Ratner but he was unable to take a call as he was out cycling. There was a slight 'uhh' from either the reporter or John Humphrys suggesting (to me) it was an excuse rather than a reason. I guess they don't realise that the early morning is a great time for a ride.

I registered it more as mild surprise that the great man was not making himself available for comment on the issue at hand. IIRC Ratner is a bit of a long distance enthusiast
