Seeking opinions/insight on a rapid rise in my CTL. I went from CTL of 57 on Friday to CTL of 67.8 on Monday. Is this too much of an increase? I have built slowly since October at the rate of approximately 10 CTL values a month (had a decrease in December due to surgery).
I took advantage of the long President's Day weekend to increase my training volume. Since Friday, I have completed 11.5 hours of mostly L2/L3 efforts, with approximately 2 of those hours in the L4 range (at 15 - 40 min increments).
Here is the increase according to my PMC: Friday: TSB: 5.5 ATL: 61.2 CTL: 57 TSS: 130 IF: .88

Assuming your starting CTL is correct (e.g. it's not set at zero when you are really at say 70) and your FTP is correct, then it's only too much if you attempt to continue to lift CTL at that rate for an extended period (e.g. > 2 weeks), or the acute load negatively impacts your short/medium term cycling objectives (e.g it resulted in injury, or excessive acute fatigue that affects key riding goals in the days/weeks to follow).
