A ramp hunter brought in a few to the Greenmarket yesterday. My wife got two of them and we each ate one as we walked around the market (outdoors). Yumm. There should be lots in a week or so.

I will make a trip in for them next Saturday if I can, or try to hit the place on Wednesday. .We treated ourselves to ramps last year at the market and were delighted.

Dear Boron, I have no clue what ramps are! I read they "hunt" for them and extrapolated they are eaten raw, but I am just too curious! please inform me. We don't have them in Hawaii. aloha, Thunder's keeper. smithfarms.comsmithfarms.comOpen ↗ Farmers & Sellers of 100% Kona Coffee & other Great Stuff

Ramps are an early spring wild leek, Allium tricoccum, that is cousin to wild onions, chives, garlic, and the rest of the Alliums. They are native to the east and you will not find them in that lush and beautiful place you live...you have to let us have something!
The are said to likely be similar to the "rampion" that Rapunzel's mother craved so during pregnancy, rather than what is now known as rampion, or campanula rapunculus..all a bit of folklore, of course.
