    I'm just back from my first excursion with the cadence meter.

    Quite an experience. My idea of fast was in error and "effort biased". (When ever effort goes up, my
    mental estimate of cadence was low)

    I ended up using only the 28 tooth granny front ring. I shifted between 13 and 16 as required to
    keep the revs up.

    When I got home, I was amazed to learn that my cruising speed was 16 and 17 mph most of the time.

    There are new muscles to whip into shape, but I think it's going to be a good thing.

    Just repeating what I learned here on this NG.

    BTW I just left it in the middle (42T) chain ring and moved the rear deraileur to bigger teeth.
