Racing in the rain

depends on the race.

most carbon wheels i've ridden brake like [censored] in the wet. if i'm doing a race in the wet that involves any significant braking (via cornering), then i usually don't even look at the carbon wheels.

Try Swiss Stop brake pads. The Zipp ones are OK but these are better.

I tend to favor alu rims for wet though.

+1 for swiss stop brake pads for carbon rims.. in the rain or otherwise... much better than zipp...

corima > swisstop ~ shimano > campagnolo >> zipp :p (well ok these experiments were done on dry roads).

Anyway, the problem with the carbon rim is that when you brake "not instantaneously" the rim will get dry in some time (5 seconds?) and the bike will suddenly brake strongly (though your pression remained constant...!) So a trick is to give some quick hits just to "dry" the rim, and then you may brake safely with all the control you want.

This also with alu but the process of braking will be more "regular"... I prefer alu rims when it's raining
