    I haven't been posting any messages here for very long time, but now I need some advice from people who know about racing in Manitoba (Winnipeg and surroundings) and in States across the border from Manitoba.

    Firstly. How is the racing scene in Winnipeg area? How this category 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 system work? Is category 1 close to European amateur(elite 2) level? Is there category 1 and 2 races in Winnipeg area? Is there any clubs in Winnipeg which do "good" races? Is there a velodrome in Winnipeg? if there is a velodrome is it indoor velodrome?

    Secondly. Is there there more races and riders in North Dakota and Minnesota near the border? Is there riders/clubs which race in both Canada and States in this area?

    Reason why I ask this is because I might be moving to Winnipeg in the beginning of 2006.

    Have a look here for information about racing in Manitoba, as well as club rides. As for across the border, try this. I don't race myself, so I can't provide any further information.

    If you're coming to Winnipeg, be sure to bring your trainer, or buy one now if you don't own one, as they're probably cheaper where you are then here. Unless you ride in -25 celcius temps, you'll need one.

    Here's a link to a local shop, to give you an idea of the prices.

    BTW, what will be bringing you to Winnipeg?

    Do you know how this category system works?
    I found out that PanAm velodrome which was used in 1997 has been sold to New Mexico so is there any velodrome anymore?

    I've been browsing those Cycling manitoba pages and trying to find some more info. If I understood right there is just a handfull of races in Manitoba and not too many riders especially in cat. 1, 2, 3.

    What brings me to Winnipeg? One canadian girl...

    It seems that scene in Manitoba is not too big. Is there even any teams which ride national and/or international races? What about those categories?
