i was in a group ride the other day and people were talking about their latest races and everyone kept sayin cat 3 and cat 2 or whatever. from what i understand i goes from 1 to 5. Which is the best cat? and what does it take to move from one to the other?

USCF goes 5 to 1 with 5 being beginner. To upgrade to 4 you simply need to race in 10 mass starts. 4 to 3 you need 20 points, you get points based on how well you finish in races, 7 points for first place. Then 3 to 2 and 2 to 1 is similar but you need more points.
