  1. I am a biking newbie (in terms of having a road bike) and think I might one day like to target road racing. However, the bad news is that I am a (relative) oldie - 41!! Boy how I wish I did this 20 years ago!!!

Anyway, I don't know anything about how road racing is "classified" (handicaps, age categories, etc). Clearly I ain't gonna compete with the 20 year olds!!! (I'm speaking for myself here).

Is there hope for someone my age to be competitive in some form of road racing? I have a long way to go but I'd like to understand what would be a realistic goal.

    Thanks.

    Ping...

So, am I to assume that there are no age categories or any other form of "handicapping", etc in road racing? Would I just be competing with those oh-so-fit 20 years olds? :-) If so, I think I'll stick to recreational biking... :-)

  3. There is a category for over 40. There are other age categories too, but I dont know what they are. I'm 40, and I'm going to start trying to train with some of the local racing clubs to see where my fitness level is, and also get some valuable group riding skills.
