The gears are 12-25 in the back and 52-39 in the front. I don`t know much about gears but I definetly want some higher than I have on my MTB right now, are these like regular gears or are they too low?
I can get it for about 840 usd. ( the prices are pretty high here in Sweden, I can`t get one for much less)
Is it a good newbie racer that one can upgrade when I feel it`s time?

The bike looks good, and the frame is good too, I live in Finland where we get plenty of nishikis too.
But I would not recomend buying this bike because it is 8 speeds and low end. Upgrading this baby will take a lot of money.
If you can, get a bike with components like shimano Tiagra (lower end of 9 speeds) , This group of components is compatible with all the other shimano 9 speeds road components on the market now. Also Tiagra is very durable and reliable, (I have one bike with Tiagra).
If you feel like upgrading then it will be easy to just start replacing components one by one and you can be sure they will be compatible (Take into account that you can get double or triple setups and some parts are specific).
Other thing will be buying a bike with campagnolo stuff, but it is very expensive in scandinavia. (there you can start with Mirage or Veloce goups, Xenon is the lower end groupset and better not to buy it)
