Hi all, I have just two months to get ready for the first MTN bike race here in CT @ Farmington. I have a very good knack of regaining fitness rather quickly but there is no excuses for laziness. Since most races only last 2+ hours do you think I can focus on that time line as apposed to building a large base (like your supposed to do)??? I don't expect to win or anything I just want to compete well with out suffering too much.
Thanks. 😉

How many days do you have to devote to training? I'd split it 60/40 speed/ base work.

I could train 5 days a week for the next two months, intervals during the week and base rides on the weekend. Do you think its possible?? The first two races are more roady courses so I guess speed would be the best to work on.Thanks.

2 months is a reasonable time to go from off season to first race.
Intervals during the week and some longer rides on the weekend would be a good plan.
You're not going to set the course on fire but I think you will survive ok
