I don't go to B.R.O.L. often (Even less often than here,
but that may change in the future.), but I stopped over
there today, Wednesday, and saw a thread about bike quotes
and it linked to the same site you recommended. I don't
know if the B.R.O.L. thread is a transplanted thread from
here, but it doesn't matter either way. Thanks for the
link here as well. I'm not really looking for bike quotes,
they just showed up a few times on A Word Per Day and I
posted them here.
You're an old-timer on this n.g. as well and I remember
when this was one of the busiest on the web. Not any more.
Yes, I'm aware of why and don't want to get things
started. But things sure have changed. The web is a great
experiment in freedoms and anonymity, and so far the old-
fashioned values are losing out to the adolescents of both
mind and body. It's great when Larry posts on B.R.O.L. and
his picture is right there. I think if a photo was
mandatory, the web would be a much more agreeable place.
Ken
This newsgroup was a cesspool before I showed up. It was
full of nothing but the crudest jokes and most hateful
slanders about Bush and the Republicans. No doubt you never
noticed it much because you agreed with the liberal trash
posting that was going on here. But others of us took
offense and did not see why such calumny should go
unchallenged. Things have changed now greatly for the better
and the newsgroup is a much improved over what it was back
when you and your ilk had your way with it.
By the way, I have used my real name from day one (unlike
many others here) and have no desire to hide behind any kind
of anonymity. The photo requirement you suggest is asinine
and would be just plain stupid. There is no real anonymity
on the Internet as we all have email addresses and Internet
Service Providers with which we maintain those addresses.
If you are happy on BROL, then stay there. How much
recumbent information do you want anyway? One newsgroup is
enough for anyone. All this shuttling back and forth between
ARBR and BROL strikes me as crazy. Find your newsgroup and
then stay with it for heaven's sake!
