Hey guys I just had a really quick question if anyone could answer it. I have never been on a road bike before and I just picked one up from a friend and dont have a clue how it works!! I knwo this is really stupid and you will all laugh, but how the heck do you downshift and up shift?? I have a picture of the knob sticking out of the handlebar but it doesnt seem to do anything, am I missing something?

My first post too, but all you have to do is push either lever toward the center of the bike. -
Do yourself a favor...head down to the local bike shop and have them talk you through how everything works. Unless they are super crowded with customers at the time that you walk in, they should be more than willing to walk you through your new ride.
