I am trying to decide whether i should get just a mid priced heart rate monitor with a nice cycle computer with cadence or get a s-720. Does the software just show graphs or is it more than that?

A bunch of reports, graphs and an open file format that is documented at the Polar web site. What is the "more" you are looking for?Mark

With the information graphs does it have a training guide to tell what to improve on?
