These are excellent questions to ask at your consultation, though it is likely that the surgeon will
touch upon most of these topics even without your prompting. Though tetralogy of Fallot is easily
the most common form of cyanotic heart disease, there are is a spectrum of variations that may make
the surgical and recovery process easier or more difficult.

While many families tend to fixate on the surgeon's personal experience with congenital heart
repair, just as important is the institution's and the rest of the team's ability to manage the
patients before, during, and after surgery.
