My season starts next week and because I do not want to make any mistakes I would like to ask the experts out there (especially acoggan, ricstern and of course all others)what type of training should I do in the "lets call it base period" instead of weight lifting which gives me no benefits at all?Should I only train my "aerobic condition"?Or what should I do?Is it reasonable do add 2x20min of FTP work right from the start?I ask this because my A races start in summer and I do not want to be at my peak form in lets say april. So does 2x20min of FTP raise your form only for some time or can I graduadlly improve with this type of exsercise till my A races are on the schedule? Thanks for your answers in advance.

I think that this question is very directly a 'coaching' question, and the resident experts like to refrain from addressing those directly. The other pseudo-experts (like me) might be able to help a little more if you give us some ideas about where you are at now and where you want to be and when.
