  1. Sorry if this was asked before, but I was looking at a Speedo finger type lap counter, because I
hate to count. I see that there are a few others now and didn't know if anyone has one and liked it
or have a suggestion where to buy one or which one to buy?

Any help would be great. I am working my way up to swimming miles for tri's and I just want to know
how far I am swimming. I am a musician and I find it hard to count when there is so much music in my
    head when I swim.

    Thanks, Curt

I use my Timex Ironman 200m (new "sleek" design) as in addtion to the usual refinements (chrono, etc.), it also has a counter mode where it will keep a running tab of your laps with just touching the button on the front of the watch (and yes, it CAN be done underwater as I have done so for about a thousand laps with no probs). It displays a simple number (i.e. 34,78 3, 12) and that is all. You can also have the chrono running in the background with splits too! All this for about $60 - can't be beat!

I may like a watch for doing tri's, but for laps it seems you would need to use two hands for a
watch? I was thinking of a finger deal so I could just press with my thumb. Am I correct, or is it
possible to do a one handed deal with a watch?

    Thanks, Curt

I suppose you could flip the watch around and hit the front button, but no, I need to "use 2 hands". While doing a flip or touch turn though, this has simply become second nature and takes a fraction of a second. Since most tri guys are not swimming the 200 or 400m, it makes no difference to me. After about 100 laps, I sure like looking down at the number and not counting!

  5. Thanks for the advise. I am only swimming a mile after I run and lift right now. I ordered a finger
counter, but will most likely get a watch as well. I haven't got that far yet. The finger counter is
only $35 US, The watch will be next I am sure. Got to keep saving the pennies.

I to can't stand counting. I would rather think about stroke and well lets face it....music or
    something.
