  1. I went out for a ride today, leaving at 6pm.

At about 20:35, I was located 19.9 miles from home (according to the AA
route planner), so I turned it on, on the ride home. I got back at
    about 21:25.

I did a full hour mostly in 52/14. It felt like I was doing 25 mph in
that mode. I've never done that fast a speed for that long a period of
time. The performance limit was positional muscular, with the right
lower back complaining; wonderfully, there was no limitation due to
    cardovascular defecit.

Now, what's curious, and the point of this post, because I like to know
what other people experience, is that my legs currently have a feeling
in them which I've never felt before.

It's like an aching-hurting-not-hurting sensation, and it's pretty
strong. It's through all the muscles which were pushing down on the
pedals, above the knee and up the front and front side of thighs.

Obviously, I'm guessing this is because I just rode hard for a long
time. But I'm curious, and I'd like to know - do other people get this?
is this what it is? because I've ridden hard before, but not had this.

Yeah, that's normal. What cadence were you pushing 52/14 at? Unless
you're Lance Armstrong, try a lower gear and spin faster - it's easier
    on your knees.

About 85, I think. A little slow, but not by much. I generally use a
15, rather than a 14, at the back, but I had to get home pronto because
    of the approach of sunset.
