Never ridden them myself but I think fuji are fairly cheap. In respect to pursuit times I think you'd better get your hand off it. Track is a whole new ball game compared to road. Ford would have been sitting very close to 60kph for the majority of his ride after taking into consideration his standing start. The majority of cat 1 road riders would struggle to break 3.25 If you've never ridden the tack before I cant see you breaking 3.45 To beat the american juniors (apart from blatchford and bobby lea) would not take too much of an effort. Apart from Carney Northstein and Tillman America has got nothing on the track.

Yea i wasn't thinking about the standing start at all, once i fugured that out i thought 'dang I must look like an idiot to CyclingForums'. Still want to give it a shot tho as a off season training tool

You should be able to go quite far with any track frame (or even a road frame set up as a fixed gear) and a pair of aero clip-ons. You can move your saddle forward to mimic the steeper seat angle of a custom pursuit bike (think of a triathalon or tt setup).
