Installing my PT right now...got the Shark Fin ๐
I have funky Gossamer Cranks that force a very high (near pedal) magnet position.
Does the cadence sensor 'read' the crankarm magnet only from the top of the sensor (like a Polar) or will it read it from the side of the sensor? I ask because I want to know if I can mount it straight down...or does it have to be off of the side of the chainstay (Polar has a little light on the sensor that lights up if it's getting signal which helps tremendously in set-up). I assume the magnet has to pass through the raised portion of the sensor too, right?

Try the PT Cadence Test, it's in setup Test Mode 5. It will flash "88" on the screen when it senses the cadence switch close.
Also, if you use a small disc rare earth magnet, you can just stick it to the back side of the pedal spindle. If you can't find them locally you can order them here:
