  1. I've started having problems with the front shifter (RSX) in my trainer bike recently, and I was
wondering if anybody here had some advice.

The problem is that the front shifter will often not shift down to a smaller chainring. I move the
small lever all the way, but I feel no resistance, nothing engaging. If I repeat it enough times
(10-20 or even more), eventually it catches on and downshifts.

Needless to say, that's not what I want after I do an intense 3-minute interval and I have a 20
    second break :-)

Any suggestions of what might be wrong? Is that something I can fix, or is the shifter shot and I
should buy some cheap downtube shifter replacement?

    Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

May be goin' south but try to fix it with the STI repaior kit, lots of WD-40 inside the
shifter...may help, lever may be done.

Disconnect the cable, soak the shifter guts with light lubricant (eg, triflow, wd-40) and work it a
hundred times. Sometimes they start working again. If it doesn't start working, leave it sit and
    repeat the next day.

icyclesusa.com has cheap new 7-speed down-tube levers. Haven't seen any 8s ones lately.
