Replacing my chain today and when I was using the chain tool to install the special connector pin, I pushed it too far through so it is not holding the outer plate. What do? Push it all the way through and start again? Break off the excess and push it back the other way?

I suppose the proper answer is probably to push the pin all the way through and start over with a new pin. But I have reused pins with no problem...yet. I don't really see why you couldn't go ahead and reuse the pin since you haven't broken it off yet.

Well, that's what I ended up doing. I was not only worried about the pin but also the inner plate. But it's on and hopefully all is well. Couldn't test ride as we just experienced a storm. Thanks for the input.
