Hello everyone. Looking for some feedback from the experts.
I decided to get rid of my Trek 1.2. I bought it new (2009) model and unfortunately circumstances and general laziness has kept me from riding it. I rode it a handful of times and it has currently less than 120 mi on the computer.
The bike is stock with only the computer added. It is virtually unused and each year I would get it ready to ride and then be too busy to use it. I have been looking at prices on eBay etc. and I see they are all over the map. I paid $800 for it new and I was thinking between $500 - 600 would be reasonable for what is a brand new bike basically.
Thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Sadly, most bikes probably depreciate faster in value than cars ...

You can certainly ask for $500-$600 ...
[INDENT]But, in light of what you may be offered as a counter (¿ ~$300 ? -- the frame size could matter with SMALLER or LARGER frames possibly commanding a slight premium with the right buyer OR possibly middle-of-the-road frame size may have more demand in the Spring ... but, probably not at the end of the riding season!), then I would think that unless you are older than 80 years old OR if you really.really need the few hundred to pay bills in the next few months, then you may want to simply keep the bike & hope you will be more motivated to ride next Spring or in the coming years.[/INDENT]
According to bike blue book a new condition one is worth $255 to $263...BUT you need to look at your local Craigslist bike listings and find similar bikes to see how much your area market will bear, for example I found a 2010 2.1 for $500 in Battle Creek MI with no indication of condition. I would not be selling it now, I would wait till April when spring fever kicks in and bike shops start getting flooded, another 8 months won't hurt anything plus it will give you time to research your area and find a reasonable asking price. I think for some reason the Bike Blue Book tends to be a bit low, but maybe that's an average nation wide?
