  1. I'm pretty much a beginner without a lot of experience in multi-day rides. I'm planning a ride from southern Poland to Budapest (only about 340 km, but some significant km of nasty hills/mountains) and I'm wondering, nutritionally, what I can do to prepare in the next few weeks.

Additionally, what sorts of food should I be eating around lunch time during a trip?

Water or an energy drink and energy bars/gel while you're riding, and some nice big sandwiches for lunch - white bread or baguettes with jam, cheese or whatever works for your tastebuds.

Night-time you'll want some pasta, rice or potatoes to fuel you for the next day.
