  1. So I cut my old 2005 PT wired hub out of my rim (ouch, that hurts) and traded up to a PT-Pro+ (the plus means $$$, but not a bad deal). The unit arrived today sans cadence sensor.

What's the right unit to buy?

  2. I would recommend at least giving the hub cadence a try. I've heard others who aren't satisfied with it, but for me it works great. I'm a masher so maybe that's why.

  3. The hub cadence didn't work all that well for me when pedaling with light pressure (easy rides). When I was under 200 watts, the display went upwards of 130 rpm when I was really at ~95. I suppose it works better if you do not have a smooth pedal stroke so it can pick up the variation in power each time the crank turns.

The cadence sensor is only about $50 from Saris/CycleOps. After I installed mine, the cadence is spot on at any RPM or power level.
