I'm pretty sure I recently read somewhere that there is a approximate relationship (formula) between FT wattage and your Vo2max. Now I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know what the formula is, if it in fact exists and is not a figment of my imagination? Thanks, Bone

Depending on how approximate you're looking for, FTP is approximately 75% of pVO2max.

possibly not quite, depending on what protocol was used.
however, for the vast majority of cyclists FT will be in the range of 72 - 77% of MAP, see, http://www.cyclingnews.com/fitness/?id=powerstern

Thanks, BoneAnd for the relationship between wattage and VO2max; I assume that you could use the basic chemistry formulas how carbonhydrates are oxidized, and how much energy is released in the process. Furthermoere, there is the commonly used apprximation of ~25% efficiency, so that 25% of that energy can be converted to power. Yes, I remember I've seen that calculation somewhere, but can't remember the result. Too many years from high school were this kind calculations were done 4 * 2'... anyone here to try?
