I ride a Stealth and have noticed that when using certain gears the idler under the seat gets noisier. Also there seems to be to be a slight loss of transfer of power to the rear. I tried something and was wondering if anyone else had tried it. I replaced the mounting bolt for the idler with a longer bolt. This allows the idler to realign with the chain by sliding back and forth on the mounting bolt. It seems to help the noise and also seems to tranfer power better. ( this could all be in my mind!!). The chain line does track better. If anyone else has tried this please let me know of your results. I rode 30 miles today in the high desert of Calif. and it was a beautiful 75Deg day.
The idler on the Bacchetta has side-to-side play. I replaced the idler at one point, wondered about that play and one of the Bacchetta guys confimed that it's by design. Besides reducing friction, it might make the idler quieter. So your modification makes sense to me.
Just to confirm again. Yes it is good if the idler can move on the shaft to align with the chain line.

RANS, (and some other brands) come from the factory with that type of sliding idler mount.
Expecting 3 to 6" of snow with sleet and freezing rain.... Spring in OHIO!
