It's about time some of these sports that make cycling at it's worst
look clean got some serious attention. Wanna take any bets on what
percentage of US pro athletes in the major sports would fail a WADA
test.
I'd peg it at over 90%.

I think that at every baseball game, three random picks from the
winning team should have to pee in a cup. That means if you're on a
good team there are 100 chances a year that you'll have to pee in a
cup. It would be too expensive to test everybody on the winning team.
I think that this method would balance the expense vs the possibility
of getting caught fairly well.

Similar for basketball and football except that you'd probably adjust
the numbers to keep the balance.

The suggested revenue stream for the testing was to be supplied by the
leagues. Since it looks like Baseball's minimum is around $320,000 a
year for a scrub, and football $765,000 there wouldn't be a whole lot
of trouble funding the testing.

Money isn't the issue. Handing off testing to an agency that
actually wants to catch people is the issue.

What is funny about baseball is that they attempted to deflect
the issue with a testing policy that was beyond lame. But it
turned out that the problem was so pervasive that even a
lame testing policy revealed a huge problem.

Yeah, so they just left some things off the testing list and let
everyone know that they weren't being tested for. Then the numbers went
way down, what a shock. McCain (who I think is more than a bit
squirrely) is insisting that MLB can't be trusted. I have more trust
for some of the sleazy used car dealers that I used to paint cars for
than Bud Selig. I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for something
good to come out of Congress. Dave Barry summed it up pretty well in
his column on toilets that used less water when he said that they
couldn't handle most acts of congress.
