In another thread it was suggested that the RDs save money on post- race food, unless it was something really special, like salmon.
In MacGregor, Iowa they have (or had) the Great River Road Road Race (GRRRR). It is a 5K in October or late September. It is a beautiful course. But maybe the most striking thing about the event is the post- race meal, which consists of pancakes with chicken gravy. It's not salmon, but it's better than it sounds.
A basket of oysters (2 dozen iirc) for every finisher at the marathon of "La Rochelle" in France.
Foie gras or duck pâté in many places in the South West of France.
At the Médoc marathon, they have oysters at one of the aid stations, barbecued "entrecôte" steaks at another (35k I think?) and "Bordeaux" wine every 5k or whenever you pass a Château, whichever is closer.
The list is endless. Haven't seen frog's legs or snails yet tho.

What did you expect from a bunch of smelly [censored]? They smell like turds, they eat turds.
