  1. Hi everyone

I had a rather nasty crash in the last 1km of a race on Friday, hitting the tar at around 60km/h on a downhill sprint, so large sections of skin on my legs were donated to some prime real-estate.

Problem is that here in South Africa we're now starting to go in to summer, and I was getting nicely on form. It looks like I'll have to take at least 10days to two weeks off the bike before I can even attempt to ride it again (the roasties are preventing quite a lot of leg movement, so spinning or anything of that sorts is out of the question). How much fitness am I going to lose, and should it be a massive concern, or should I just take it as a rest period and whip out the old Playstation and relax?

    regards

I crashed 3 weeks ago (going about 25 mph downhill) and broke a femur, torn muscles, road rash across the back, etc. the broken bone, set with 2 pins, has kept me from all exercise until I get doctor's clearance. to my shock, my calves seem to have melted away and my cardio is nowhere near what it was. but least up here, I'll have the winter to recover.

My suggestion is IF you can exercise anything or anyway, do so. that will keep you from having to rebuild from an even lower base. If you can't, cut your food intake so you don;t get fat, nd then get gong when you can.
