Been spending recent weekends in the Welsh valleys hoovering up Marilyns
- interesting area, reminds me a bit of my local area - except the hills
are higher and some are topped off with [censored] heaps - and the NCB housing
estates.
Some of the hills offer interesting puzzles to find a route to the top.
Friendly land owners - some being quite willing to show me how to the
way over their land.
Then there is the view of Port Talbot from Mynydd Dinas - looking just
like a Sim City construction - or at least the kind of Sim City I always
seemed to end up with. You know, the annual newspaper tells you the
people are leaving because of the pollution and the traffic jams - and
then you try to build a freeway looking improbably big in comparison to
the other features (and remains unfinished because your budget is
exhausted).
But, hey the freeway isn't an exaggeration because what seems to dwarf
everything else here - it is the M4 - just how much land does a motorway
need?
However, the looking at M4 has given me a new goal - let's see if I can
get every Marilyn between the M4 and the M8. The bit from M4 to
A6071/A69 being fairly easy to complete.
