I'd like to find out about the swimming scene in NYC. I travel there a lot and would like to find a place where I could drop in for an organized Master's workout. if that's not possible, then just a pool where i could drop in would be great. any tips? i'd prefer Manhattan, but i'm open to anything.
i'm also asking for a friend who lives there and wants to join a Master's team. usms.org only lists one team for Manhattan. could that be true?

New York's a tough place to get in a good swim, but it's not impossible.
Happy laps, Bill Haverland

Go to the rec page or look up private clubs. Enter a zip code and it will give you the different pools that do lap swimming in the area. And once you found out about different pools some have a team and some don't. I don't care since I'm a lone swimmer and prefer to workout on my own, I don't missed the circular patterns of my teen years on a team.
