All very nice and cosy, but, excuse the cynic in me - why are police targetting law-abiding cyclists when they should be targetting law-infringing motorists? Easy targets? Reverse psychology? Blaming cyclists??
Let's give out spot prizes to motorists for safe driving and acts of consideration and due care. After all - it is "their" road we are cycling on 🙄
Maybe they're simply trying to 're-launch' the October event, this has been held for over 20 years. Somewhere I've got a nice collection of stickers to prove it.
Not trying to be too flippant, but the strongest memory I have of Safe Cycle Month was being chatted up by a bored copper parked in the bike lane on Albert St, Brunswick. 😉

The police media release has a better message than The Age's rephrasing - non-blaming and positive.
Hmmm... looks like I am going to have to ride to work more often this month, to meet some bored coppers. :p 😉
