I was wondering if the type of frame material might effect how well this unit works. The vibration damping characteristics of carbon fiber, Ti, Al or steel are very different. If you have had success with this unit, or not, let us know and maybe a pattern will show. I am riding a Trek 5500.

i have a polar power unit on a Cannondale Team Saeco w/ aluminum frame, carbon front forks & carbon seat post. i also have a polar power unit on a Specialized Roubaix Pro that is full carbon.
the unit works just fine on both bikes.

The vibration damping properties of the frame are irrelevant to the power measurement.
The Polar measures the frequency of vibration of the CHAIN...not the chainstay.
In fact, damping doesn't affect the natural frequency of vibration anyway.
I've mounted Polar modules to aluminum, steel, and carbon chainstays and the power measurements worked perfectly on each.
