I have a new fork and the pivot nut, the one that holds the brake calipher, uses only 8 mm of thread from the brake calipher bolt when is properly torqued.
My brakes are Ultegra, is that sufficient?, shall I get a longer pivot nut?

if at least 90% of the threads are engaged by the bolt, you're probably OK ... but why not replace the bolt .... it's a 50 cent part.

Instead, the pivot nut can be changed ( if necesary), but it is not a 50 cent part, if you know where I can buy a longer one for that price ten times that price, tell me please.

http://www.icyclesusa.com has some longer replacement nuts.
i had to file down the outer edge of the lip to get it to fit my fork's recess (was slightly too fat). YMMV

your LBS should be able to get one for you too.
