    Sorry, I've got the 20". I'll measure that and post later even though
    it's probably not what you want.

    For my wife, but she needs about 3" shorter reach than me. The 20" I
    looked at in Halfords had exactly the right top tube length for me - I'm
    hoping the 18" is shorter.

    As she's a lapsed cyclist who never got the hang of derailleurs in the
    first place, I think hub gears are a better bet for her as there's no
    weird front/back combinations to worry about and the gears all have nice
    numbers from 1 to 8. It's also less hassle for me to maintain and I
    might nick it occasionally for a different ride.

    I think I've also managed to get permission to buy a track bike for
    myself :-)
