    How was lunch with Terry?

Great! Terry and I met at the 2nd Avenue Deli and Kirsten, her
daughter came, too. She came on time and we had a nice chat while we
waited for Terry, who was about five or ten minutes late.

Terry was a vision out of a beautiful dream. While I was dressed like
a slob, (I wore black jeans and a black shirt), she was dressed in a
golden/auburn colored airy summer dress, which matched her hair almost
exactly. When she entered the room, it was as if a ray of pure
    sunshine had lit it up.

We didn't have much time for our meal. Kirsten had to get back to
finish some art work that was nearing a deadline, Terry wanted to do
some shopping and I had to get home, since Debbie was coming in from
    Maine.

We sat with Mary, the waitress, of course. Terry gave her and Lisa,
the hostess, the tiny jars of jam from you. She kept the Ginger Peach
    one for herself.

Kirsten ordered a hamburger with French Fries, Terry wanted half a
Pastrami Sandwich and I ordered a Tip Of The Tongue whole sandwich so
that I could take half of it back for Marcel. With it we had Iced Tea
or Coke. Neither Terry nor her daughter were interested in the
freebies that Mary brought, such as the chopped liver, which Terry at
least tasted but did not like. Even the Health Salad and Pickles were
ignored and Mary did not bother to bring the Mushroom and Barley or
Kasha Varnishkes. However, the plate with assorted cookies and
ruggelach at the end of our meal was welcomed and Kirsten even took
the left-overs home with her. :o)

The meal lasted only one hour, but we already made a date for October,
the next time Terry expects to be here, when we will have more time to
    socialize.

On the way to the bus I stopped at The Veselka to pick up some
pirogies for Debbie and myself for tonight. They had blueberry ones,
so I got some of those and potato with onions, too.

Marcel was waiting when I returned and Debbie came right on time later
in the afternoon. She brought lots of stuff from her garden, Onions,
Garlic, Green and Yellow Peppers, Zucchinis, tiny yellow Cherry
Tomatoes and the most delicious Haricots Verts, that are as sweet as
sugar. We had some of those vegetables for dinner; Debbie is a
vegetarian and Marcel was on his own.

She also brought me a special package which had arrived at the
concierge of our building a short time before. It was a thoughtful,
crazy gift from three thoughtful, crazy friends.

Yesterday was a really good day. :o) MS

    SACRILEGE!!!!!!!

How could anyone ignore health salad and pickles from the 2nd Ave
    Deli????????????

What day was this rendezvous? Funny...I was at the market at lunchtime on
Wednesday and noticed they have something they call "health salad"--it's an
odd shade of almost bottle-green, and it's nowhere nearly as good as that at
2nd Ave, but...I bought a small container of it and had it with my sandwich
    the past couple of days.

I must have been having a craving for health salad, and you ladies had the
real thing sitting right there in front of you and YOU DIDN"T EAT IT!!!!
While I had to eat ersatz health salad.

    Sob....sob....whimper....sob...sniffle....sniffle...sob.....Margaret you
    must not love me anymore!!!!!!!!!

    ;-) only kidding, of course!
