Jillie, if you are really interested in canning rec.food.preserving is a
real nice ng with very helpful & friendly folk. Here's a pic of my
yellow string beans to hopefully provide an incentive for you. IMO
string beans - either green or yellow - are one of the easiest veggies
to can. There is very little work to them & you can easily do small
batches. Clean and chop your beans then raw pack into jars. Cover with
boiling water leaving 1/2" headspace. Add 1/2 tsp salt if desired - I
don't. Wipe rims and put the lids on. Process in pressure canner 20
min at 10 pounds pressure for pints (500 ml) or if your canner can do
the quarts process at 10 pound pressure for 25 min.
