If you're going to tip, most server's prefer cash.

I'll tell you what my father told me whenever he paid for a dine-in bill on
a credit card: cash. No paper trail for the IRS to follow. Having said
that, servers are taxed on a percentage of their sales, not on what goes
into their pockets. Never could get Dad to understand that. But it's
easier to go get a drink and put your feet up after work if you have cash in
your pocket 🙂

Thanks, Harriet and Jill. I always tip, so now it will be cash even when I
use a credit card for the meal. (And now I can save a little money on
takeout since that doesn't need a tip!)
