I bought these a few months ago, but not at Ebay.

3 PC SANTOKU CHEF KNIVES KNIFE SET 5.5" 7.5" 9.5"

I've owned a full set of Sabatier since 1973. Mostly they are still in
    use,
but I do use other knives.
The large santoku I used last night to butterfly a steak that was too
    thick.
    No problem.
    I recommend these.

    1. I know it says "German steel" but were they made in China?

    2. Do you recommend wherever you bought them?

Gloria, here is the www.NapaStyle.com site
But I don't see the exact style I bought of the santoku on the site.
Mine was the 3 santoku set. I bought it at Costco for $49.99.
Here is the toll-free number 1-800-214-8369 if you wish to ask about the
ones at ebay, which I believe from the looks of the box, are the ones I own.
The handles are not wood. The handles are some sort of spongy (but good
quality) material, which I prefer to wood; I don't have arthritic hands, so
it is not a consideration. I've never used that type of handle before.
They make me feel more secure. They feel well-balanced to me -- I now
prefer them to my other knives. I bought them 1-24-06 at Winchester, VA.
After I bought them, I saw them no more.
I feel at $49.99 I feel they were a bargain. Yes, I always recommend
    Costco.
    Good Luck.
    Dee
