A few years ago the "Head Mechanic" at my LBS (now a
Performance, BTW) built me a rear wheel using my old XTR hub
with new 517 rim and spokes/nipples. Damned thing started
breaking spokes within a few months, and now sits (sets?) on
my highly neglected hardtail. (Hub is f-ed up too.)

If you got 10 years out of her, she's earned a makeover (or
even retirement).
