I was walking along the skyline of Higger Tor, above Burbage the other evening when I noticed that down in the pine plantation below the patch of trees directly opposite from me to the sun was reflecting more strongly than those around, clearly where the shiney pine needles were aligned to reflect the sun back. I'm sure that if the resolution were fine enough you'd spot a shadow of me in the middle of that brighter patch :-D

Interesting! Are you sure that's not a smudge on the lens? Or flare? ;-)
I presume from your description that it really looked like that?
