This is the first of five or so installments covering our recent French Pyrenees cycling trip.

I expect to post the other episodes on a weekly basis.

enjoy.

Thanks for this. We would love to ride the Pyrenees next time we go to France (2007?) and your website looks like it has some great info.
The lonely planets guide is a bit thin on details. When we were doing a 5 week tour in the south of France earlier this year we did it usupported and camping. We were managing 100kms a day in the Haute Provence and Maritime Alpes but the pyrenees are a wee bit harder I think.
When we in the Dordogne in June we met a couple who were in their 60's riding a Cannondale tandem, towing a BOB and heading for the Pyrenees.

Cheers

Congrats on your unsupported camping trip. 100k fully loaded through foothills and mountains is a good day! That couple on tandem with a BOB would be quite the sight going over the big cols in the Pyrenees.

Thanks for the feedback.
