Just posted some pictures of a trip to the central and W Highlands over the first weekend of March .... remember when the good old BBC was telling people to stay away from Scotland because of the extreme conditions! No doubt it WAS pretty awful in the far NE, but our 3 days were awesome. Day 1 - Meall na Teanga (almost!) Day 2 - Monadh Liath Geal Charn Day 3 - Sgurr na Coire Sgreamhaich, in Glencoe.
PS Stayed at The Pottery Bunkhouse in Laggan - quite a good position if the weather is iffy, to opst East or West as the forecast takes you - plenty of driving though!
Hi Chris - in fact we approached Teanga from the south, having done Sron a Choire Gairbh a couple of years ago, and quit because of extreme cold, then tried again last year and quit because of almost getting avalanched off Teanga! So we parked at Clunes, walked up on forestry tracks, and ascended Leac Chorrac and Meall Coire Lochain before having to give up on the main summit because of a very crumbly snow arete on the way down to the bealach above Choire Lochain!
Fantastic walk over Meall Odhar though, so we didn't really mind our third failure to summit on Teanga! Also bumboarded part way down - a first - which was great fun but surprisingly strenuous!
