For those not up on their history of American circus masters, P.T. Barnum is the headliner. However, around the world it appears he has a formidable challenger in the likes of one Paco Guzman, race organizer for the Tour of Murcia.
He's not allowing Italian teams to start his race as retribution for CONI's (Italy's Olympic Committee) decision where Valverde is barred from racing in Italy for two years. To make the most of a sordid situation, Valverde (who's apperently from the region/city of which the race bears its name) himself won't be starting the race along with his Caisse d'Epargne teammates because Guzman apparently is too tight with the purse-strings...
Talk about 'cutting off your nose to spite your face' - and once isn't enough for the guy, he'll do it twice!...
